Performances and news about the Jazz program

This Monday, May 15, there will be a jazz performance/workshop at the High School for Terrill, Park, Jazz Lab, and SPF Jazz musicians. We have two incredible professional musicians coming out to hear the bands perform and spend time working with each group. The event will be held from 7-9pm and family and friends are welcome to attend.

Wednesday, May 10th: Spring Instrumental Concert. 7:30 PM, SPFHS Auditorium

Saturday, May 13th: NJ State Jazz Ensemble Gala 1-5PM, SPFHS Auditorium

On Saturday, May 13th we will be hosting the New Jersey State Jazz Ensemble Gala. The New Jersey State Jazz Ensemble Gala is an educational activity that involves students from New Jersey’s public high schools in a series of performances. This Gala Festival fosters personal growth and achievement in jazz music students.
The bands that perform in the Gala  are chosen through a series of preliminary rounds in three regions (north, central and south) and among the three different divisions. It will feature the top three bands from each division, including our very own Moonglowers! This is a  FREE event and all are welcome.
This year, the Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School will host this festival for the first time, and we hope that you can be a part of this unforgettable event! We’re looking for volunteers and donations to make this event a success, so please review the sign up and get involved! We look forward to seeing you.

Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School hosted its 20th annual Moonglowers Jazz Festival on April 21, featuring performances by the school’s Jazz Lab, SPF Jazz and Moonglowers plus eight ensembles from seven other schools.

Click here to see our album of photos from the finale performance by the Moonglowers. It came on the eve of the New Jersey Association of Jazz Education’s state finals, in which the Moonglowers took second place among groups from Division II schools.
