Mr. Nicholas Ellis has just been named as the new director of the SPF Jazz Ensemble, and sends this message along:

Dear students, parents, and guardians,

It is an honor to be the new director of the SPF Jazz Ensemble. I look forward to making great music and providing a positive experience for the students.

There will be a brief meeting held for current members and students interested in auditioning for this year’s ensemble. The meeting will take place on Thursday, September 29, at 7:00 A.M. in the Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School auditorium. Details and audition requirements will be provided. If a student is unable to attend the meeting, he or she should email me as soon as possible so that arrangements can be made to pick up the audition music and information.

Students should email me no later than Thursday, October 6, 2016 to schedule an audition date and time.

Auditions will take place on October 11, and 13, before and after school, and on October 14, after school.

If you have questions or concerns, feel free to contact me any time.

The Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School Raiders Marching Band and Color Guard have begun their 2016 performance season. Again this year we’ll be gathering photos and videos from band families and friends to add to our extensive collection of SPFHS music memories.

To begin with, we have an album of pictures taken by alumni parent Dan Murphy at the Home Show on Sept. 17. Click here or on the image above to see the album.

We expect to soon have additional photos contributed by others from this event, plus the season’s first competition at Edison on Sept. 10 – and other performances as they proceed through the fall. All are welcome to contribute to our collection! Contact Dan at
